Simply Healthy in the New Year

In order to stay up to date in my field of women’s health, I subscribe to a number of newswires, in addition to medical journals. In the “end of the year rush”, my email is full of all the different ways to achieve and maintain health in the New Year. In order to find that one brilliant idea of health maintenance, I perused all of the information, both in my inbox and on line. I really think that the American Cancer Society got it right. They have a simple list.

Stay Away form Tobacco

Eat Healthy and Get Active

Be Safe in the Sun

Find Cancer Early (i.e. get your recommended screening tests and know the early warning signs and symptoms of cancers)

 I would only add:

See your internist or family doctor once a year.

Simple.

This list will kick off a series: The Basics of how to Stay Healthy in the New Year.

Resources: The American Cancer Society http://www.cancer.org

For a list of programs and tools to get and stay healthy.
